Hello
Slick Tyler is Thomas W. Tyler originally from Tidewater Va. and now residing in Autryville, NC outside of Fayetteville.
" I built these guitars used on this page out of cheap Fender bodies and necks. The Telecaster was originally a Squier Custom and the electrics and pickups were changed to part Fender and part Gibson and aftermarket resistors. The pickups are Seymour Duncan SH1's.The Strat was made of Starcaster,Squier and aftermarket parts all bought seperately on E-bay.The pickups are not Seymour Duncan but they are Alnico II which is the only magnets I like. They are Diesel Texas Type Anico II's from Canada.I use a LIne 6 floor board and solid-state amps, usually a Crate 212 or Ultimate Chorus Fender."
My father was a Jazz bassist who played regularly with Joe Jones in Hampton at Strawberry Banks and had a band in the sixties called The Saints.Sitting in with those bands were John Coltraine,The Adderly brothers ,King Curtis,Johnny Horne, and Gene Barge. He played with piano greats Topper and Pat Curtis.I grew up in Va Beach and played in night clubs at the age of 9.I looked about 5 and played a precision bass like an upright because I was too small to wear it on my shoulder.I played in Rock, country and southern rock bands in the seventies including Tuff,Sunset and Cypress.I joined the Marines and the Army and ended up in Fayetteville. I also played in Pentecostal outpourings if you know what that is in the Fayetteville area.I play Guitar and Bass and some Banjo, Mandolin and Lap Steel.Kathy and I are playing with Cd's that I wrote and recorded on original songs as "Blue Heron".We are on garageband.com
